Could not have enjoyed our weekend more.  The Floating Farmhouse goes above and beyond it's promises!

Anastasia M: Magical weekend at a dream location

  • 5 of 5

The farmhouse exceeded absolutely all of our expectations - it is even more beautiful and impeccably designed than any of the photos you may have seen. We had eight girls stay up for a birthday reunion and it was the most magical weekend! There was more than enough space for eight to stay and relax - games are provided in the living room and the grassy backyard is the perfect place for a picnic. We went for runs, did yoga in the backyard, played cards and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The supermarket five minutes away in town had everything we needed for brunch and dinner feasts. The kitchen is as beautiful and functional as it looks - it is the perfect place to spend time cooking and catching up with friends or family. The whitewashed bedrooms are beautiful and the master bedroom is quite simply a dream room to wake up in.

We are already hoping to plan our next weekend to the Farmhouse and take advantage of the nearby lake and activities in the summer months. That said, I don't know if it could be any more perfect!

This home is just perfect. Not one false note! We've been back once for a repeat visit and plan to make this a regular retreat from the city.

Brian R: Even more perfect than we could have imagined

The Floating Farmhouse is just as stunning inside as it is outside, and just as perfect as the pictures make it seem. All nine of us loved making it our home for the weekend. The amenities are spectacular, from the showers and bathtubs to the fireplaces and the pizza oven. And we loved how many different settings the house offers for us all to spend time together in beautiful, cozy settings, between the kitchen, the den, the master bedroom, and the porch. We only left the house once -- and only for a quick trip to the grocery store just down the street -- because all we wanted to do was spend more time in the house beside a fire, staring out through the plentiful windows at the snow all around us. Can't wait to book another weekend here, and working with the Floating Farmhouse staff was a complete pleasure throughout.

Amanda M: Incredibly special place for friends and family

Our family stayed at the Floating Farmhouse for Christmas and we all agree—we will never forget this magical place and the time we were so lucky to spend here. Tom Givone is a terrifically talented designer, and his artful renovation to this incredible farmhouse is evident down to the smallest details. Everything we needed, and more, was there. We even saw a family of six deer framed in the exquisite expanse of glass in the kitchen! I can not imagine a better place to relax, convene with family, and soak in the gorgeous Catskills landscape.

Laura C: Beautiful, secluded house perfect for entertaining

Overall the floating farmhouse met my very high expectations! Was perfect for a surprise 30th birthday party weekend with a group of 11. Only 1 person has to sleep on the couch. We had amazing cooks in our group so the large format kitchen was perfect. The Sonos sound system was great for entertaining as well! Thank you Betsy!

Every year I take my small team on a three day offsite and this was the most beautiful venue we have ever been to. Upon arriving, I spent the first hour in awe, walking through this beauty of a home, admiring all the beautiful details. It blows my mind, that Tom, the owner, would renovate this old farmhouse with SUCH love and care, to then let strangers enjoy it. This is a new level of trust. It was an absolute privilege to stay in this home.

Peter S: So, so good

My girlfriend and I first saw the Floating Farmhouse online, on one of the design sites we both frequent. I'm a magazine editor and travel writer from Canada, and had been looking for a cool, out-of-the-way place to stay in the Catskills for a story I was working on. The Farmhouse seemed perfect — and, in person, it was even better than we could have hoped for. We spent most of our time reading on the deck by the water, cooking in the gorgeous open kitchen (pro tip: the grocery store in town sells frozen pizza dough, which is cheating, but you can't really tell after a few minutes in the wood oven), and being generally amazed that such a magazine-worthy home could be so accessible as a vacation rental. We definitely hope to return, ideally next time for longer, and with more people — seemed a shame to leave all those bedrooms empty when the place is so worth sharing.

Elizabeth R: Stunning Floating Farmhouse

We slept in a jewel of a home. Ate pizza from its wood burning oven. Tubed, played croquet on the spacious lawn. Watched deer, warblers, fox, porcupines, wild turkeys and salamanders. Ate out at amazing restaurants nearby and didn't want to leave. What an exquisite, special place. We will return soon.

Stunning house in a beautiful setting. It provided the most wonderful weekend break for our extended family of mixed ages from toddlers to grandparents from Sydney, Australia. Huge living areas and spaces were lovely and all rooms had a beautiful outlook to the gardens and lake. Plenty of wildlife to view no matter what the weather outside. The architect-owner has designed a wonderful house fusing traditional details with modern conveniences. Eldred town is lovely but small so best to bring your own groceries incl. coffee as well as your pizza ingredients for the pizza oven. House is close to Bethel Woods of Woodstock fame which was a great half day excursion. Enjoy this house - we certainly did and look forward to recommending it to our family and friends.

Nicholas P: An excuse to just chill

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at The Floating Farmhouse. We arrived at the home after a long drive, thinking that we would relax for a couple of days and then start hiking in the catskills. After a couple of days we found that we could not pull ourselves away from the home. We cooked, we read, we sat on the porch listening to the water, walked down the country roads and we watched the deer and wild turkey in the backyard. It is a place to enjoy your friends and family with a beautiful backdrop.

The home was very well maintained and clean. The owner was very responsive to any questions and had terrific suggestions for things to do in the area if we were to get stir crazy. We look forward to returning to the home again and would recommend to anyone who either needs some time to chill or enjoys an active vacation
